Bio
Ron Jenkins enters his 10th year as an assistant football coach. Ron spent six years at Ventura College under the direction of his College Coach Steve Mooshagian . Ron spent the past four seasons with Head coach Marguet Miller. Two seasons at West Los Angeles College and two seasons at Southwest college. Ron is a player Development Specialist assisting with wide receivers. Jenkins began his coaching career in 1987-88 as a graduate assistant/ wide receiver at Fresno state. Jenkins then went on to coach at Artesia high school in Artesia, California.
Jenkins, a Los Angeles native. Attended Manual Arts High School, where he started his football career by playing both quarterback and wide receiver until a shoulder injury forced him only to play receiver. A Position Ron took to very well. Ron was recruited and offered scholarships to play college football by Fresno State, Oregon State, Fullerton College, Memphis State, and UCLA after attending East Los Angeles Junior College in Monterey Park California. Ron chose Fresno state because Coach Mooshagian, who recruited him, was honest and promised to be there for him as an athlete and person, which proved true.
While playing for Fresno state Jenkins earned First team All- PCAA honors in 1987, set a single game reception record catching 16 passes, was named Honorable mention All- American and finished his senior year fourth in the nation in receptions. He was voted the most outstanding Bulldog receiver.
Jenkins was employed by Fresno County Juvenile Hall for four years. He transferred to the state department of youth authority corrections to continue his passion of working with Youth/ adults. Jenkins was officially recognized for his role in saving a young girl's life. As her counselor, he was instrumental in guiding her towards success. He witnessed her progress through the system making her way from Fresno County Juvenile Hall to becoming a successful Entrepreneur, Author, and Attorney. She followed in Jenkins' footsteps by attending Fresno state and graduating top of her class. She continued her education by earning degrees in law and business from UCLA.
Currently, Jenkins is retired and spends his time volunteering for Casa as an education rights holder. Jenkins also mentors' youth in community and church settings. His greatest vision is to avenge the death of his four brothers by helping save lives in his community. The same community that took the lives of his brothers.
In Ron’s fourth year under Coach Miller, he has never seen a Head Coach more relentless in the efforts of providing educational support to his student Athletes. Ron credits this with Coach Millers background in special ed. He coaches Miller uses his expertise by giving kids a systematic approach to obtaining their AA degree thus transferring to four-year institutions. Ron thinks the coaching staff fits well with the community it serves. Who better to serve a community than those who were raised in that community.
Jenkins earned his B.A degree in social work education from Fresno state in 1988. Jenkins resides in Los Angeles California.
