Playing Career Coach Carver’s football roots run deep in South Los Angeles, where he was a standout defensive back at Dorsey High School, one of California’s most respected prep football programs. During his time at Dorsey:
• He was a two-time All-Central City Selection by the Los Angeles Times (1981–82, 1983–84)
• Earned All-City Honors (1981–82, 1983–84), becoming the only junior named to the All-Central City Team in 1981–82.

• Capped his high school career with prestigious All-American Honors (1983–84) under the leadership of the legendary Coach Glenn Bell.
• Off the field, he was a natural leader, serving as Dorsey High School Class President in both 1983 and 1984.
